【摘要】:1.1Thistestmethodisdesignedtoevaluate(quantitatively)theantimicrobialeffectivenessofagentsincorporatedorboundintoorontomainlyflat(twodimensional)hydrophobicorpolymericsurfaces.Themethodfocusesprimarilyonassessingantibacterialactivity;however,othermicroorganismssuchasyeastandfungalconidiamaybetestedusingthismethod.1.2Thevehiclefortheinoculumisanagarslurrywhichreducesthesurfacetensionofthesalineinoculumcarrierandallowsformationofa"pseudo-biofilm,"providingmoreevencontactoftheinoculumwiththetestsurface.Note1Thistestmethodfacilitatesthetestingofhydrophobicsurfacesbyutilizingcellsheldinanagarslurrymatrix.Thistestmethod,aswritten,isinappropriatetodetermineefficacyagainstbiofilmcells,whicharedifferentbothgeneticallyandmetabolicallythanplanktoniccellsusedinthistest.1.3Thismethodcanconfirmthepresenceofantimicrobialactivityinplasticsorhydrophobicsurfacesandallowsdeterminationofquantitativedifferencesinantimicrobialactivitybetweenuntreatedplasticsorpolymersandthosewithboundorincorporatedlowwater-solubleantimicrobialagents.Comparisonsbetweenthenumbersofsurvivorsonpreservative-treatedandcontrolhydrophobicsurfacesmayalsobemade.1.4Theprocedurealsopermitsdeterminationof"shelf-life"orlongtermdurabilityofanantimicrobialtreatmentwhichmaybeachievedthroughtestingbothnon-washedandwashedsamplesoveratimespan.1.5Knowledgeofmicrobiologicaltechniquesisrequiredfortheseprocedures.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
